ANGRY BIRDS RIO
On March 23 Angry Birds Rio was released in Australia. It was released on iOS, Mac and Android platforms.
The game can be downloaded from the App Store for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, from the Mac App Store for Mac computers. The game was developed in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox, and features the animated stars of the studio’s upcoming film, RIO, which debuts in cinemas on 7th April 2011. The game was officially launched in Rio de Janeiro at the world premiere of RIO.
To support the launch, Rovio and Twentieth Century Fox has also released a new mash-up video featuring the Angry Birds and Nigel, the evil cockatoo from RIO
Angry Birds Rio features two episodes and 60 levels, and new episodic updates based on the motion picture RIO will be provided throughout the year. New playable characters, new achievements and unlock-able secrets are also included.
“Angry Birds Rio is the most exciting thing to happen to Angry Birds so far,” said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. “We are glad to bring exciting new game play elements and a fresh, thrilling new Angry Birds experience to all our fans worldwide.”
In Angry Birds Rio, animal smugglers have kidnapped the Angry Birds and taken them to magical city of Rio, where they escape their captors and set out to save their friends, Blu and Jewel – two rare macaws and the stars of the upcoming Fox motion picture, RIO. Angry Birds Rio pairs the game play of the original game with unique twists based on the highly-anticipated film.
